Traffic Relief Plan Moves Forward

Selection of Design and Construction Contractor Marks Another Major Milestone

ANNAPOLIS, MD(September 21, 2022)—Traffic Relief NOW Spokesman Doug Mayer today released the following statement in response to Accelerate Maryland Partners selecting Tutor Perini as the design and construction contractor for Maryland’s New American Legion Bridge I-270 Traffic Relief Plan:

“The selection of a design and construction contractor marks a major milestone for this project and is another clear sign of significant and long overdue progress. After years of interference from obscure government organizations, anti-road activists, and partisan politicians, the Traffic Relief Plan is closer than ever to being a reality.

“Traffic is back with a vengeance and there is no better solution for the millions of people stuck in soul crushing traffic than fixing the American Legion Bridge and expanding I-270 and the Capital Beltway. The time is now, and Marylanders are done waiting for something Virginia figured out years ago.”
