Statement from Traffic Relief NOW In Response to the Federal Highway Administration’s Record of Decision

ANNAPOLIS, MD (August 25, 2022)—Traffic Relief NOW today released the following statement from spokesman Doug Mayer in response to the Federal Highway Administration providing final approval to the I-270/I-495 Traffic Relief Plan:

“The Biden administration approving this project is a major step forward and finally puts it on the 1-yard line. This is a victory for everyone who cares about Marylanders wasting their lives stuck in traffic and a defeat for the activists who did everything possible to stop this transformative project from moving forward.

“The Traffic Relief Plan won’t only get Marylanders moving again but it will create thousands of jobs, produce billions in economic activity, and provide transit service between Maryland and Virginia for the first time. It’s one of the most important infrastructure projects in the country and exactly what President Biden and Governor Hogan have promised to deliver.

“To their credit, the governor and the supporters of this project from across the state have overcome years of blatant political sabotage and obscure bureaucratic hurdles to get to this point. Now is the time to take the final steps and put this plan fully into motion.”
